Picture Dump 3 - Hangzhou: The City on a Lake

After returning to China and decompressing for a few days, we set out on a second adventure. This time we wanted to conquer China's Big East. The first stop on our trip was Hangzhou. Hangzhou is a city on the legendary West Lake, a body of water steeped in thousands of years of Chinese culture and legend

We arrived in Hanghou nearly at the stroke of midnight on Chinese New Year. There were fireworks everywhere!

Our hostel was on in a historic district that has been turned into a shopping district

Bike built into a wall!

Ancient city gate, now guarded by creepy mannequin sentries

One of the towns oldest still-standing bridges.

The West Lake! A living legend in China. We spent the whole day walking around it.

Happy year of the goat

An accursed menu

The hands-down best street food in Hangzhou was the $1 deep fried crabs. 2 WHOLE CRABS FOR A DOLLAR

Squirrels are apparently rare in China. This is the first one I've seen, and all the Chinese people were going NUTS

Look at this cotton candy!

Guess what? It was really busy in Hangzhou

Really... really crowded

This is how they give you tea in China

Buddha bellies
