Chinese New Year Break Interlude - A Festival of Photographs

Hello all. As of this writing, we are halfway through our month-long break from work. How is it going so fast?!?!?!

Even though I have enough material to cover 10 blog posts, I'm going to hold off on doing too much text until after the break comes to a complete halt.

For the first 16 days of the break, Laura and I went to Sanya (Southernmost city in China), Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam), Phnom Penh and Siem Reap (in Cambodia), and also Bangkok and Phuket (in Thailand).

I took probably 500 pictures over those 2+ weeks. I thought I'd share some of them now. Enjoy!

The hotel in Sanya had ROBES

Not sure what's up with that girl, I just liked our resort's design

The extra fancy rooms had private pools.

The "lobby"

Our hotel was connected to an outdoor mall area

Selling overpriced whole coconuts is a big deal here.

Finally beach time

Sanya was gorgeous

The lobby's "interior"

First of many weddings I stumbled upon in the last few weeks.

Beyond those little islets lies the South China Sea and the Pacific ocean

Small inland lake.

Sometimes I catch Laura being beautiful <3<3

First view of Saigon, Vietnam!

Wait what??

Downtown Ho Chi Minh

French Style buildings all over. This is the opera house.

I'll follow this guy

Bikes forever. Forever bikes.

Sipping some legit Vietnamese iced coffee

Panorama from the roof of our hostel

About to have some pho

Laura is happy we're finally in a country with real bread

And ice! Iced tea and iced coffee all day!

The beautiful city post office right next door.

The beautiful (???) Saigon River

A BACON BAR

First time in my life I've been a millionaire. Thanks, hyperinflation!

On our food tour of the city

Ladies cooking up some shrimp for us

Crispy shrimp heads

Eating the notorious Balut. Hard-boiled egg with a very developed duck fetus inside

Laura likes the Balut

Met up with some pals

Bus ride out of the city and into the glorious green country side

Some of the official professionally done pics from our food tour

Marker signifying the end of Vietnam and the beginning of Cambodia

The border town next to Vietnam fancied itself as some sort of Las Vegas

Mekong River ferry crossing

A lot of the houses in Cambodia and Vietnam are build on stilts above ponds

Phnom Penh, Cambodia capital

Tonle Sap River walk

Wat Phnom temple in the city center

City market

The king's royal palace

Kingly billboard

Sunrise on the river

On the 6 hour boat ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap

Villages on stilts!

Floating villages!

The "port" at Siem Reap

Taking a tuk tuk into town

Beautiful Siem Reap

Needed a beer after that boat ride!

Fancy bug cafe in Siem Reap

Scorpion Salad

Tasty!

Bug-kebab skewer

Tarantulas are, no joke, the tastiest thing ever

And now 500 pictures of Angor Wat Archeological Park

Another border town. This is Poipet, on the way into Thailand

Last piece of Cambodia.

Okay! That's all we have time for! Around February 28 I'll upload pictures of Thailand and the rest of our China Travels. Also expect an XXL sized text post. Cheers!
