Week 27 Picture Post

We stumble upon some sort of weird sweet potato sacrifice, embers from the sparklers still lit. What strange new cult is this?

Our first view of a Dialou

Inside the Dialous. This is how 19th Century Chinese millionaires lived.

Village views

At another cluster. This all of the Dialous in this area were owned by the same very rich family. The Xie family still has a pretty strong presence in America apparently.

Mini Dialous!

Inside the movie set from the one single movie that's ever been filmed in Kaiping. It's called "The Grandmaster" and is from 2013, by the way.

Who does the best "Angry Chinese Leader" pose? Zac...

Leon...

Or Jon?

My favorite Dialou. We couldn't go inside this one.

My roommate Jason says that these "pillows" (literally a block of wood) are not old timey at all. He says everyone in his family still uses these.

The cluster near the mountains was the only one with other tourists at it.

The patriarch of the Xie family had his hair preserved. Thanks Mr. Xie...

Awesome fireplace.

Cool street near the "movie town"

The "movie town" had a fun room with a bunch of paintings that you could pose in front of.
